A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to enhance the accuracy of discharges by adjusting the activation period of space charges based on a main discharge period and the activation period of space charges. A plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel(200) and drivers(120,130,140). The plasma display panel includes scan and sustain electrodes. The drivers alternately supply sustain pulses to the scan and sustain electrodes during a sustain period. A sustain pulse period includes a first period for performing main discharge and a second period, which is shorter than the first period and space charges are generated. The second period is less than half of the first period.
