<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which has a short printing waiting time due to confirmation of process cartridge attachment. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus for printing an image comprising a plurality of colors by mounting a plurality of process cartridges having different developing colors thereon, developing colors required for outputting image data for which printing request is received are confirmed, and it is confirmed whether the process cartridges having the developing colors required for output are attached.
