PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode substrate to be applied to a liquid crystal display device, the electrode substrate improving display quality of the liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The electrode substrate for a liquid crystal display device includes an electrode disposed so as to correspond to an active area 6 on an insulating substrate, an alignment layer disposed covering at least the electrode, and a projection P disposed outside the active area on the insulating substrate, wherein the projection P is disposed so as to cross a conveyance direction T where the electrode substrate is conveyed in rubbing the alignment layer.
