[Class 64(iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] An assembly for use in heat exchangers etc. comprises a main 1 and a number of tubes 5 connected to the main by means of an adapter which tapers away from the main, the tubes being attached to its tapering wall. The adapter has a cylindrical part 2' and a conical part 2 which are joined by a part 4 having a radius of curvature # equal to the diameter of the main. The cone angle # does not exceed 90 degrees. The tubes 5 are attached to the part 2 at points 6 lying on concentric circles. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the adapter is formed integral with the main and connected to it by a part having a radius of curvature at least three times as large as the radius of the main.
