A surface coating composition (I) contains predetermined amounts of (a) at least one paraffin, (b) at least one polyhydric alcohol and (c) at least one auxiliary, together with (d) at least one nano-particulate polymer to 100%. Independent claims are included for: (1) a method for coating surfaces (especially of flat fibrous products) by mechanically applying (I) then drying; and (2) surfaces coated with (I) and/or using the claimed method.
