An external skin composition comprising the extract of Pteris multifida is provided to remove reactive oxygen species, improve skin elasticity and wrinkles by inhibiting MMP-1(matrix metalloproteinase-1) biosynthesis and promoting type 1 procollagen, reduce skin irritation, and prevent acnes and hair loss without side effects. An external skin composition for improving skin wrinkles and preventing and treating acnes comprises 0.001-30.0 wt.% of the extract of Pteris multifida which is prepared by extracting Pteris multifida with a solvent selected from purified water, methanol, ethanol, glycerin, ethylacetate, butylenes glycol, propylene glycol, dichloromethane and hexane, and is formulated as cosmetic water, gel, water-soluble liquid, cream, essence, O/W(oil-in-water) type or W/O(water-in-oil) type, shampoo, rinse, hair conditioner or soap. Further, a solvent such as an extract solvent is selected from a group consisting of purified water, methanol, ethanol, glycerin, ethylacetate, butylene glycol, propylene glycol, dichloromethan or hexane.
