A damage prevention apparatus for a vacuum pump is provided to allow an end of a vane to be bent when oil is not discharged due to backward rotation of the vacuum pump and to allow the end of the vane to return to its original position when the oil pressure is restored to a normal state. A damage prevention apparatus for a vacuum pump(1) comprises a pump chamber(3) formed on the top of a housing(2). The pump chamber is provided therein with a check valve(5), an oil outlet port(6), a rotor(4), and a rotational member(7) for transferring oil. An end of the rotational member is bent if oil is not discharged due to backward rotation of an engine and returns to its original position if the oil pressure is restored to a normal state. The rotational member includes a fixed vane(10), a movable vane(20), a plate spring(30) received in a stepped portion between the fixed vane and the movable vane, a vane guide, and a vane connecting core.
