<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a calibration with high precision even when the calibration is performed by printing test charts respectively on the back surface and the front surface of the same printing medium. <P>SOLUTION: When the test chart for the surface and the test chart for the back surface are respectively outputted on the front surface and the back surface of the same printing medium, by using the test charts whose patch arrangements for the front surface and the back surface are not overlapped, an influence caused by setoff is eliminated so as to enable the practice of the calibration with high precision. In addition, respective patch arrangements of the test charts are outputted to the printing medium so that they are different for the front surface and for the back surface. In an image forming apparatus, based on arrangement positions of respective patches measured, whether the test chart read-in is for the back surface or for the front surface is automatically judged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
