PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing-drying machine which has less unevenness in drying in the drying process. SOLUTION: When the amount of laundry in the rotary drum is within a rated drying capacity, and also, is not determined to be the maximum (drying capacity maximum), the control of the drying process is set so that the drying process by a normal operation being shown by a curve 96 of a broken line may be performed. For the normal operation, e. g. , the rotary drum is operated by repeating a normal rotation, a pause and a reverse rotation at 40 to 55 rotations per minute. When it is determined that the laundry is the maximum (drying capacity maximum), the drying process including a rotation variable operation being shown by a curve 97 of a solid line is performed. For the operation including the rotation variable operation, the rotation variable operation, in which the rotation speed of the rotary drum is raised in steps when started, and is raised to the rotation speed of a degree in which a space is formed at the central section of the laundry, and then, the rotary drum is suddenly stopped, is inserted in the normal operation. By the sudden stoppage after the high speed rotation, the exchange of the laundry on the external side in the radial direction and on the internal side in the radial direction of the rotary drum can efficiently be performed.
