PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus, image forming apparatus, image reading method, and image forming method which have less occurrence of defective images such as those containing image ununiformity and slant streak lines. SOLUTION: Even if EMI because of SSCG is reduced, defective images such as those containing image ununiformity and slant streak lines synchronous with the modulation frequency of SSCG can be reduced just by changing a combination of methods of generating driving signals to a photoelectric conversion element and an A/D conversion means.
