PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the use of desloratadine for the preparation of a drug for treatment and/or prevention of human allergic and inflammatory conditions. SOLUTION: Use is made of desloratadine for the preparation of a drug for the treatment and/or prevention of allergic and inflammatory conditions of the skin or airway passages in a human being of 12 years or older in need of such treatment and/or prevention, by the administration of an amount of desloratadine sufficient to produce a geometric mean steady state maximum plasma concentration of desloratadine in the range of 2.90-4.54, or an arithmetic mean steady state maximum plasma concentration of deslortadine of 3.2-5.0 ng/ml.
