PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently purifying a cyclic olefin compound manufactured on an industrial scale. SOLUTION: The purification method of the cyclic olefin compound comprises removing a water-soluble component contained in an organic solvent (A) solution obtained from a manufacturing process of the cyclic olefin compound by bringing the organic solvent (A) solution into contact with an aqueous medium thereby to cause the water-soluble component to dissolve in the aqueous medium, removing at least a part of the organic solvent (A) contained in the reaction liquid, adding a mixed solvent of the organic solvent (A) with an organic solvent (B), which is a poor solvent for the cyclic olefin compound, to the concentrated reaction liquid thereby to cause the dissolved cyclic olefin compound to deposit, and separating the deposited cyclic olefin compound from the reaction liquid.
