Disclosed is a method for the passage of a primate embryonic stem cell. Also disclosed is a method for the induction of the differentiation of a primate embryonic stem cell into a vascular endothelial cell, a vascular cell or the like. Specifically disclosed is a method comprising the steps of: culturing a primate embryonic stem cell in a culture medium containing a protein component in the absence of a feeder or a cytokine in a container coated with an extrecellular matrix to produce a colony of the embryonic stem cell; detaching the colony in the presence of a cell-detaching agent; and seeding the colony into a culture medium which is same as the culture medium used in the proceeding step. Also specifically disclosed is a method comprising the steps of: culturing a primate embryonic stem cell in a serum-containing or serum-free culture medium in the presence of a cytokine to produce an aggregate of an embryoid body or an embryoid body-like cell; conducting the adhesion culture of the aggregation of the embryoid body or the embryoid body-like cell in the presence of a cytokine to produce a specific progenitor cell; and separating the specific progenitor cell into a floating cell and an adhered cell, thereby producing a vascular cell or a vascular endothelial cell.
