The device (1) has an eye treatment device (3) with a contact unit (10) for spatial fixing of an eye of the patient opposite to the treatment device. A positioning device (4) is provided for relative shifting of a suspension device (2) e.g. couch, and contact unit with respect to each other. A detection device holds the eye of the patient on the suspension device and determines an indication about a relative shift of the suspension device to bring the eye into the reference-position by the positioning device. An independent claim is also included for an ophthalmological method for positioning an eye of a patient into a pre-determined reference position.
