<p>A light emitting device is provided at either the top of an elevator shaft or the upper part of a cage, and a light receiving device for receiving light from the light emitting device is provided at the other. A controller for controlling operation of an elevator can switch the mode of operation of the elevator between a normal operation mode for moving the cage at a normal speed and an inspection operation mode for moving the cage at a speed lower than the normal speed. When detection of light by the light receiving device is stopped, the controller switches the operation mode from the normal operation mode to the inspection operation mode.</p> |
