<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device achieving the widening of a color reproduction range and free from irregularity in color intensity. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type display device is equipped with: a first light source 10; first color separation optical systems 15 and 18 separating white light from the first light source 10 to two colors, that is, red and cyan; first and second liquid crystal display elements 80a and 80b modulating each of the colors separated by the first color separation optical systems in accordance with a chrominance signal; a second light source 50; second color separation optical systems 55 and 58 separating white light from the second light source 50 to two colors, that is, blue and green; third and fourth liquid crystal display elements 80c and 80d modulating each of the colors separated by the second color separation optical systems in accordance with a chrominance signal; color composite means 61, 64 and 63 compositing the modulated light modulated by the first to the fourth liquid crystal display elements 80a, 80b, 80c and 80d; and a projection lens 70 enlarging and projecting the synthesized light from the color composite means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
