PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nonaqueous electrolyte solution for a battery with excellent safety and yet capable of improving battery performance. SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte solution for a battery contains ionic liquid having a phosphorus-nitrogen double bond, at least a kind of heterocyclic compound selected from a group consisting of thiophene and thiophene derivative, and supporting salt. Further, a content of the heterocyclic compound is preferred to be in a range of 0.1 to 3.0% by mass of the total nonaqueous electrolyte solution for the battery.
