PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bag breaking apparatus suitable for surely and efficiently cutting and breaking a bag filled with waste, in particular, a large garbage bag. SOLUTION: A garbage bag 1 mounted on a traveling truck 2 is cut by a rotary blade 14 rotating in a lower space of garbage bag mounting surfaces 4 and 5 of the traveling truck 2 by the traveling of the traveling truck 2. The cutting force of the rotary blade 14 is provided with appropriate pressing force by a tilting lever by a pneumatic cylinder 16 with set pressure previously adjusted. After cutting the garbage bag, the garbage bag 1 is forcedly torn while opening the garbage bag mounting surfaces 4 and 5 downward by holding an end of the garbage bag in the vicinity of the cut part thereof by lower claws 6 and 7 arranged on the garbage bag mounting surfaces 4 and 5 of the traveling truck 2, and the waste in the garbage bag 1 can be surely discharged by holding a side surface of the garbage bag by upper claws 18 and 21 to prevent the garbage bag itself from coming down by its own weight in discharging the inside of the garbage bag.
