An LCD including a backlight unit and a white balance adjusting method of the backlight unit are provided to perform initial white balance adjustment after suddenly raising surface temperature of each LED up to temperature of a saturation by generating heat through a heater if each LED is turned on, thereby significantly reducing white balance adjustment time and reducing time required to provide a stable screen. If a first control signal is applied, a heater(400) generates heat for raising surface temperature of each LED(Light Emitting Diode) installed in a backlight unit(300). If each LED of the backlight unit is turned on, a controller(600) outputs the first control signal to the heater. The controller outputs a second control signal if time reaches preset time. A white balance adjusting unit(700) adjusts initial white balance of white light by each LED installed in the backlight unit if the second control signal is applied from the controller in a state when the heater is driven. |
