The holder has a spring unit with a contact spring (8) e.g. coil springs, for generating a contact spring force and a supporting spring (28) for generating a supporting spring force, where the supporting spring is separated from the contact spring. The spring unit presses carbon brushes (6) into a taper of a guide by the supporting force. The taper is formed by a guide surface at a guide side of the guide and by an adjacent side of another guide, where the guide surface and the latter guide side enclose an acute angle.
