A plasma display panel is provided to improve picture quality and to obtain a coloring effect by forming a filter unit at a front substrate. A rear substrate is arranged opposite to a front substrate. A barrier rib(16) is formed between the front and rear substrates to define discharge cells. An address electrode corresponds to the discharge cells. A display electrode crosses the address electrode in the discharge cells. A dielectric layer is formed to cover the display electrode. A protective layer(29) is formed on the dielectric layer and is colored with a first color. A phosphor layer is formed within the discharge cell. A filter unit(40) is formed on the front substrate. The filter unit includes a light guide having a light receiving side larger than a light transmitting side and an external light reflection prevention member formed at the light guide. The external light reflection prevention member is colored with a second color. The first and second colors have subtractive color mixture relationship.
