PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body motion detection device capable of calculating more accurate motion quantity in walking motion such that a step is consciously changed, such as Nordic walking. SOLUTION: A transmission device is installed to a pole for the Nordic walking, and a signal showing a start or an end of the Nordic walking is transmitted by depressing a switch. A pedometer receives the signal from the transmission device to detect that the start or the end of the Nordic walking is instructed (S107). When a present walking mode is a normal walking mode, it is assumed that a Nordic mode is designated, and a parameter for the Nordic mode is set as a parameter for calculation (step S111). When the present walking mode is the Nordic mode, it is assumed that the normal walking mode is designated, and a parameter for the normal walking mode is set as the parameter for the calculation (step S113).
