PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester production method reducing the formation of foreign matter originated in a catalyst and mold fouling during molding and producing a polymer having heat resistance and hue more markedly excellent than those of a conventional product. SOLUTION: The polyester production method comprises subjecting a dicarboxylic acid or an esterifiable derivative thereof and a diol or an esterifiable derivative thereof to esterification or transesterification and thereafter polycondensing the product in the presence of a titanium polycondensation catalyst, wherein a specified biphenyl group-containing phosphorus compound is added.
