PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transformer with a gap and a noncontact power transmitter in which power transmission efficiency is enhanced as much as possible.

SOLUTION: The transformer 11 with a gap comprises a primary core 12 on which a primary winding 16p is wound, and a secondary core 13 arranged oppositely to the primary core 12 through a gap 14 and on which a secondary winding 16s is wound. Opposing surfaces 17 and 18 of these cores 12 and 13 are formed to become larger than the cross-section S of the cores 12 and 13 perpendicular to the direction of flux at a portion holding the gap 14 between.
