PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately check a storage amount of oil. SOLUTION: A guide tube 13 is inserted at a lower end into the oil 5 in an oil pan 7 of an engine body 1 in an automobile engine and is formed with bent portions 15, 17, 19 in the middle. An elevating element 37 formed of a plurality of float pieces 37 connected to each other in series is disposed in a vertical row in the guide tube 13. Each float piece 35 has a specific gravity smaller than the specific gravity of the oil 5 and the elevating element 37 vertically moves in the guide tube 13 including the bent portions 15, 17, 19 in accordance with the level 6 of the oil 5. A mark display region 31 for indicating the storage amount of the oil 5 is formed on the upper part of the guide tube 13 and the guide tube 13 including the mark display region 31 is formed of transparent resin material so that the float pieces 35 are visible.
