PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper ejector and an automatic document carrying device, further superior in ejecting and stacking performance. SOLUTION: This paper ejector comprises an ejecting roller 9 ejecting a sheet, a document ejecting tray 5 for placing a document ejected from the ejecting roller 9, a pressing-down unit 10 having at least a pressing-down member 14 for pressing down the document placed on the document ejecting tray 5 from above, and a control unit 40 controlling the pressing-down unit 10 so as to repeat operation for pressing down the document from the upper surface side by the pressing-down member 14, up to completing ejection of the sheet, after moving the pressing-down member 14 to the upper surface side from the reverse surface side of the document, after ejecting the ejecting document.
