PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a step-down type DC/DC converter which can forcedly discharge the energy stored in the output capacitor of the DC/DC converter, and to provide its control method. SOLUTION: When the DC/DC converter is stopped, the step-down type DC/DC converter keeps the low-side switch to be turned on/off for a prescribed time, of either the high-side switch or the low-side switch, each constituting the DC/DC converter, thereby the energy stored in the capacitor is forcedly discharged.
