A sludge adhesion suppressing structure for an internal combustion engine is characterized in that a sludge suppression layer (35B), which suppresses creation or adhesion of sludge, is formed on the surface of that portion inside the engine where oil is not constantly supplied and with which oil mist is in contact. Preferably, the sludge suppression layer (35B) is formed of a solid alkaline substance and is formed on inner surfaces (36B, 37B) of an oil separator chamber (25B) provided at a head cover (6) and separating oil from blowby gas.
