The invention proposes a method for delivering at least one operation variable from a Layer Management (LM) to a Service Specific Convergence Sublayer (SSCS) of a Signalling ATM Adaptation Layer (SAAL), comprising the steps of providing the operation variable, providing a connection (C1, C2) between the Layer Management (LM) and the Service Specific Convergence Sublayer (SSCF), and sending said operation variable from said Layer Management (LM) to said Service Specific Convergence Sublayer (SSCS) via said connection (C1). By this method, operation variables like timers and parameters can easily be delivered to the SSCS part of the SAAL. The invention also proposes corresponding means for performing the above method.
