PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte solution for a battery with excellent safety and capable of improving battery performance. SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte solution for a battery contains ionic liquid having a phosphorus-nitrogen double bond, at least a kind of sulfonyl compound selected from a group consisting of 1,3-propane sultone, 1,3-butane sultone, 1,4-butane sultone, 1,3,2-dioxathiolane-2,2-dioxide, and a compound expressed in the following general formula (I) :R<SP>1</SP>-SO<SB>2</SB>-R<SP>2</SP>[in the formula, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are a 1-3C alkyl group, an alkenyl group, or a phenyl group each independently, provided, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>may combine with each other to form a ring.], and supporting salt.
