PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nonaqueous electrolyte solution for a battery with excellent safety and yet capable of improving battery performance. SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte solution for a battery contains ionic liquid having a phosphorus-nitrogen double bond, an anhydrous dicarboxylic acid compound having a cyclic structure, and supporting salt. Further, 5-norbornene-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride, 1,2,3,6-tetrahydro phthalic anhydride, and bicyclo [2.2.2] octo-5-ene-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride are preferred as the anhydrous dicarboxylic acid compound having the cyclic structure, and a content of the anhydrous dicarboxylic acid compound having the cyclic structure is preferred to be in the range of 0.1 to 3.0% by mass of the total nonaqueous electrolyte solution for the battery.
