PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic elastomer having excellent oil-resistance and mechanical strength, especially compression set while keeping excellent recyclability and to provide a thermoplastic elastomer composition containing the elastomer. SOLUTION: The thermoplastic elastomer is composed of an elastomeric polymer having an epoxide, a hydroxyl group and a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group, wherein the nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group is bonded to the main chain of the elastomeric polymer through a nitrogen atom or an oxygen atom.
