PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle mobile inspection system for inspecting a small-sized vehicle, namely, a scanning car. SOLUTION: This mobile vehicle inspection system is equipped with a moving means; a driving means for driving the moving means during scanning inspection; a radiation source for emitting a radiation; a rotary table pivotally disposed on the moving means; an upright post installed on the rotary table; traverse detector beam provided with a detector array, and connected to an upper end of the upright post; and the upright detector beam provided with a detector array, connected to the traverse detector beam, and placed approximately vertically to the traverse detector beam. In the mobile vehicle inspection system wherein the upright post, the traverse detector beam and the upright detector beam constitute a frame of a substantial inverted "U" shape, the traverse detector beam and the upright detector beam can be rocked between a retracted position in which they are retracted to the upside of the moving means and a projected position in which they are projected from the moving means by pivoting the upright post.
