Disclosed is a novel anthrapyridone compound represented by the formula (1) below or a salt thereof. The anthrapyridone compound or a salt thereof enables to provide a magenta dye having a hue with high clarity suitable for inkjet recording and excellent storage stability. A recorded matter using such a magenta dye is excellent in fastness.
