The method involves storing vehicle-related sensor data and control signals in a memory e.g. non-volatile memory, in an accident data recorder during driving of a vehicle. Results and/or intermediate results of a scene analysis, which is based on the sensor data and the control signals, are stored. Data with respect to the results and/or the intermediate results are stored for a predetermined period, which is shorter than a time period for storage of the sensor data and the control signals.
