The container (1) has a highly-heat conductive heat transfer medium (4) arranged in contact with a compressed gas container wall (2) and connected with a thermal safety device (8) by a bimetallic switch (5). The switch is thermally switched between a closed switched position above a selected threshold temperature and an open switch position below the temperature. The switch produces a heat conductive connection between the medium and the device in the closed switched position. The switch interrupts the heat conductive connection between the medium and the device in the open switch position.
