A safety valve for a sealed battery is provided to ensure opening of the safety valve upon a rapid increase in the internal pressure of a battery while being in a stable state upon simple dropping of a battery, thereby improving the safety of a sealed battery. A safety valve for a sealed battery that experiences a rapid increase in the gas pressure inside the battery container by an abnormal change in environment followed by abnormal gas generation comprises an easy open ditch(EODR) formed substantially in the radial direction. The easy open ditch extends toward the outer circumference substantially in perpendicular to an easy open ditch(EOD) formed on the inner circumference in the shape of a planar continuous or discontinuous loop. The safety is not easily broken upon dropping of the whole container, while being broken upon an increase in the internal pressure caused by the abnormal gas generation to release the internal pressure. |
