[Class 12 (i)] A guide wheel for supporting a sliding door or the like is formed of a disc comprising a flexible filler 19 built of a plurality of laminations 37 of cotton, nylon, rayon, wire cloth or like woven fabric and an elastomer binder which may be an oil-resistant synthetic rubber such as neoprene. The filler is clamped between side discs 21, 23 connected by rivets 25, the periphery of each.disc overhanging a track 3 on which the wheel runs. The wheel is mounted on a ballbearing B, the inner race 29 of which is secured to a post 13 attached to a bracket 11. A small upthrust roller 15 may be mounted on a shaft 17 secured to the bracket 11. The ratio of binder to filler is such that although there is a flattening of the disc at the part contacting the rail no bead is formed on the disc adjacent this portion. The ratio may be 10 to 15 per cent by weight. The disc 19 may be impregnated with lubricant. |
