Exhaust gas sensors and methods for measuring concentrations of NOx and ammonia and temperatures of the sensors are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, an exhaust gas sensor (12) utilizes one zirconia layer (28) and a plurality of alumina layers therein for generating signals indicative of concentrations of NOx and ammonia, and having an impedance indicative of a temperature of the exhaust gas sensor.
