A method for providing sensitive data comprising the followings steps: receiving (S1) a request for the sensitive data which comprises at least one request attribute and indicates a recipient, performing (S2) a first check whether the received request is admissible by means of a first set of predetermined rules, performing (S3) at least one further independent fail safe check whether the received request is admissible by means of a protected second set of predetermined rules, and providing (S4) the requested sensitive data to the recipient if all checks indicate that the request is admissible.
