The spacer has a bush in an opposite end for mounting a lightning current-carrying line and for fixing in a structural arrangement of an object to be protected. A pipe, a bar and a hollow section are made of insulating material (1) over a section of a longitudinal extension, where the insulating material ensures a uniform field distribution with high, short-term impulse voltage. The insulating material is provided with an outer semiconductor layer (2) or casing.
