A body for a motor vehicle comprises a frame, a bonnet (1) connected on a first side (2) to the frame by a hinge (8) and on a second side (4) by a bonnet lock (15, 16), and at least one actuating element (3) which can be extended in the event of an accident in order to raise the bonnet (1). The actuating element (3) comprises a movable part (7, 10) acting on the first side (2) of the bonnet (1). A catch (15) of the bonnet lock (15, 16) is coupled to the movable part (7, 10) in order to release the bonnet lock (15, 16) when said actuating element (3) is extended.
