A scaffolding frame is provided which can be assembled with other frames to form access scaffolding or scaffolding towers. The frame includes a tubular portion with a projecting spigot (15) secured in the end of the tubular portion, the spigot being designed to enter an open end of a tubular portion on an adjacent frame member to construct the access scaffolding or scaffolding tower. The spigot (15) is of a generally cylindrical cross-section of substantially constant cross-section over the major part of its projecting length. An aperture (26) is formed in the spigot towards its free projecting end with a taper (27,28) integrally formed on the spigot on the free end side of the aperture to deflect aside a spring biased latch (23) mounted on the open-ended tubular portion of an adjacent frame member as the spigot is inserted into the open-ended tubular portion. The tapering end portion (27) of the spigot includes a recessed generally planar cam surface (28) which extends from the free end (29) of the spigot towards the aperture (26), the cam surface (28) being designed to contact and deflect aside the spring biased latch (23) to guide the latch into the aperture as the spigot is inserted. |
