A plasma display panel is provided to reduce the amount of reflected external light by forming a light absorbing layer corresponding to a non-discharge region between barrier ribs. A front substrate(111) and a rear substrate(121) are disposed opposite to each other. A barrier rib is disposed in a space between the front substrate and the rear substrate in order to define a plurality of discharge cells(170) and a non-discharge region. A plurality of discharge electrodes(112) are disposed in parallel to each other on the front substrate and are extended across the front substrate. A front dielectric layer(115) is formed to cover the discharge electrodes. A light absorbing layer(117) is formed on the front substrate corresponding to the non-discharge region. The light absorbing layer is thicker than the discharge electrode. The front dielectric layer is equal to or thicker than the light absorbing layer.
