A method for manufacturing an image sensor is provided to increase a color representation performance of the image sensor by forming a gapless microlens array. A planarization layer(17) is formed on a color filter array(13). A first microlens array(19) is patterned on a first region of the planarization layer. A hydrophilic solution layer(21) is formed on the planarization layer and the first microlens array. A resin is applied on the hydrophilic solution layer and the resin is filled, such that a second microlens array(23) is formed on a second region, where no first microlens array is formed. A bake process is performed on the hydrophilic solution layer and the resin, such that a microlens array consisting of the first and second microlens arrays is formed. The first and second regions for the first and second microlens arrays, respectively, are alternatively arranged, such that adjacent surfaces are mated on a plane.
