A heating and cooling apparatus is provided to take advantages of high heat transfer efficiency of hot water boiler and high thermal energy utilization efficiency of hot air heater, to cool down indoor temperature by utilizing ground water or water chilled by ice, to heat or cool indoor space by supplying thermal energy to the space through ducts without using separate piping and radiators, and to use only small amount of water to reduce fuel required for heating. A heating and cooling apparatus has a main body(11), a water jacket(13) which heats up water in the water jacket by operating a burner(14), a pancake shape heat exchanger(15) on the other side of the water jacket which is composed of plural coils and which has a water inlet pipe(18) at the upper portion of the water jacket and a water outlet pipe(19) at the lower portion of the water jacket, tees(24) which are installed to the thermal medium inlet pipe and the thermal medium outlet pipe to supply or discharge chilled water, valves(27,28) which are installed at the inlet, the outlet and the tees to control flow of chilled water, a partition(36) which is installed in the main body to divide hot water piping and the heat exchanger, an axial fan(38) which is installed at an upper side of the heat exchanger to introduce ambient air when a motor(37) is operated, and a duct(40) which is installed at an air supply hole on the main body to discharge heat exchanged air to indoor space when the fan is operated.
