A filter and a plasma display device using the same are provided to form a black image by attaching an external light blocking sheet for maximally absorbing and blocking the light inputted from the outside, on the front side of a panel. A plasma display device is composed of a plasma display panel formed by combining first and second substrates and a filter formed on the front side of the panel. The filter has an external light blocking sheet comprising a base unit(200) and a pattern unit(210) formed on the base unit. The angle between the electrode formed on one of the first and second substrates adjacent to the filter and the pattern unit is below 5 degrees.
