A heater short detecting apparatus is provided to prevent overheating of a heater by monitoring a state of the heater according to an SSR(Solid State Relay) signal of an SSR circuit and detecting failure of relay operation of the SSR circuit. A heater short detecting apparatus includes a current conduction detecting unit(120), an SSR driving detecting unit(210,220), an SSR signal detecting unit(230), a comparing unit(300), and a control unit(400). The current conduction detecting unit detects conduction of current inputted to a heater(10). The SSR driving detecting unit receives an SSR output signal detected in an SSR circuit to provide the received SSR output signal as an SSR driving signal indicating whether the SSR circuit is driven or not. The SSR signal detecting unit compares an SSR input signal to control the SSR circuit with the SSR driving signal to determine failure of the SSR circuit. The comparing unit compares a current conduction state signal of the current conduction detecting unit with the SSR driving signal of the SSR driving detecting unit to output comparison signals of 0 and 1 and determines a short of a heating element in the heater. The control unit controls the heater according to the signals of the comparing unit. |
