FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: method to manufacture potassium or ammonium trichloroammineplatinate (II) implies dissolving potassium tetrachloroplatinate (II) salt in ammonium acetate solution at =5.4, this value being achieved by adding acetic acid. Solution is heated under reflux for 20 minutes, then oxygen- and chlorine-free strong hydrochloric acid is added to the solution to obtain 6 mol/l concentration, and solution is heated for 3 h more. When reaction is over, solution is cooled down to room temperature and precipitated trans-[Pt(NH3)2Cl2] salt is filtered off. To the cooled solution, Reise salt [Pt(NH3)4]Cl2.H2O is added to precipitate binary salt [Pt(NH3)4].[PtNH3Cl3]2. To the dried salt, potassium tetrachloroplatinate (II) or ammonium tetrachloroplatinate (II) M2[PtCl4], where M=NH4 +, +, dissolved in 1 HCl, is added. Solution is heated for 30 minutes and cooled down. Resulting Magnus' salt [Pt(NH3)4].[PtCl4] is filtered off, and solution of M[PtNH3Cl3].H2O, M=NH4 +, +, salt is saturated with hydrochloric acid.
