A recording medium and method and apparatus for reproducing and recording at least one text subtitle stream, comprising: the text subtitle stream including a dialogue style segment and at least one dialogue presentation segment, the dialogue style segment defining at least one region style to be applied to an overall region of dialogue text, the dialogue presentation segment containing at least one region of dialogue text, the region of dialogue text being linked to one of the at least one region style, the dialogue presentation segment including region subtitle for the region of dialogue text, the region subtitle including a text string and at least one inline style to be applied to a portion of the text string, the inline style for changing at least one of region presentation properties specified by the linked region style for the text string, wherein the region subtitle further including a data type field specifying a type of data immediately following the data type field, the type of data is one of the text string or the inline style. |
